Former EastEnders star Michelle Collins to join Coronation Street as new Rovers Return landlady

Actress Michelle Collins is ‘extremely excited’ about starring in Corrie.

Former EastEnders star Michelle Collins is joining Coronation Street.

The actress – who was Cindy Beale in the BBC soap – will play new Rovers Return landlady Stella.

‘I am honoured to be joining,’ says Michelle, 49. ‘It’s been part of my life since I was a child. It is extremely exciting.’

Michelle, whose character Stella will be brought in to run the pub by owner Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), is expected to start filming scenes in the next 3 weeks.

‘Her acting credentials are first class as she has more than a decade leading some brilliant and memorable drama series,’ Corrie executive producer Kieran Roberts tells the Daily Mail.

‘I am certain she is going to be fantastic as the warm, funny, steely, flawed and larger-than-life northern matriarch Stella.’

Taggart star John Michie has been cast as Michelle’s character’s husband Karl.
